art is a big part of culture, from visual arts to literacy; one isn't complete without the other. Emory Douglas also known as "The Revolutionary Artist" and also was the Minister of culture for the Black Panthers around the 1960s to '80s. Emory used his graphic art designs to add another elements to The Black
Panther paper to illustrates forms of oppression while at the same time uses the images to empower the "powerless".
