I just so happen to stumble upon this video while browsing around on You Tube as usual. I began to wonder how come he wasn't big in the industry, or I wasn't hearing news of him in the mainstream media. I found a link that lead me to his website. he reminds me of a boy I know. A friend that I have known since grade school. I remember the first time I heard him play the keyboard. It was isn't she lovely, and I began to cry, just bawl like baby. It is by far one of the most memorable moments of my life.

Say YES
I dont usually watch comedy because they always seem to bore the hell out of me pretty fast, but Drew Carey has a way of drawing you in. I was watching YES man and began to examine with a
critical lens. We are so busy being stuck in routines we forget that we aren't living. The breaths we take, and other normal body functions doesn't define the substance in our lives. I also believe it was trying to tell us that our lives should be lived holistically. I continue to push myself into "work" so much I forget how to have fun (literally). We can make money and be happy, don't settle for less if the epic dream doesn't come true. You can dream more than once, Our jobs, friends, and other placements we have in some sense should all be one. This stuck with me like a post it note on my desktop. I keep replaying how critical this is to apply to my life but also to other that have so much potential but we can never find the right way to bring it out.
Folks I think this is the 1
ugh, can't find the clip [:(] but u get the point :)

Beautiful
I have never felt beautiful enough! Not for myself, family, friends, or the world. It is this same emotion that has become the impediment of my survival. The girl that shops (vintage&) affordable, rocks TOMS and writes poetry.I am not alone, Just not brave enough to say what my heart beats out loud. Too afraid the world will push me away. Forget who I am because of who I will soon become. There is one woman that is brave enough. She is like my heart's dictionary.
"For the first time in over a year, I'm going to wear jeans and a t-shirt. Thats it. Just jeans and a t-shirt. No suspenders, or ties, or flowers in my breast pocket. I'm scared. What will I hide behind? I have nothing. I'll be naked. And nudity is for beautiful ppl. The rest of us have to distract the world with patter...ns and chopped sweaters. Now every one's gonna have to look at my face. Dang it. 2rrw is me bein brave."

"memories don't live like ppl do"
Andrea Gibson is by far one of my favorite poets. I first encountered who she was by taking a face book quiz i.e "Which slam poet are you?" Answer-Andrea Gibson. Since I had never heard or seen her perform before I YouTubed' her and stumbled upon some breathtaking and groundbreaking masterpieces that her voice was able to painted across my monitor as I watched her perform.
I never intended to post this video, and after reading YouTube response that sated
"This inspired me to break up with my abusive ex 5 months ago. Now I've found the courage to love myself first. Thank you, Andrea. You are truly one of my heroes." It is more than hard to escape an abusive relationship. Though I may not know the extent of this woman's battle, a poem being the catalyst to break away from that struggle is beyond what my vocabulary can describe. Please make sure to check out her side and other works of art.

one man doesn't stand alone/"Whateva u want" is out and up for grabs!
I have previously blogged about a mutual friend of mine (Godfrey) that is uno (one) member of the Duo Genisys. I must say I'm a bit (really) impressed by the singing of his partner a.c.e. Their new single is finally out, and yes the video below is the phenomenal work of these 2 driven young men. I'm delighted to say that this will soon be my ring tone (once downloaded) and should also be yours as well!

It is easier to keep an A than to earn an A
I have been sitting in the house watching movies all day (this is what a vacay. from the job feels like=UGH). Besides Dead Presidents I had the opportunity to examine Dangerous Minds through a critical lens, Though I may have mixed feelings the one thing that stood out to me (amongst many others) was when the teacher (Michelle Pfeiffer) tried to change the curriculum againts the principals will (Courtney B. Vance) by teaching the students poetry and karate(though dangerous became a tool to gain their trust and attention), "things that were against the Board of education's curriculum".I began to rethink my educational background to better understand that our educational system is still within the teachings of banking, we become deposits and weather or not we can understand the information if we are able to recite it we pass. The school understood that many of the students couldn't read, came from impoverished neighborhoods, were dead squat poor- if not close, and would be at least the 1st to graduate from High School from their families. Their futures were already planned, they were never asked what they wanted to learn, what they needed to build, on;instead roads were being constructed without them even having the knowledge of how to climb a road that isn't designed for blacks. The tar would be too hard too much for a black man or woman's feet to cross. Their eyes would burn more looking at that road than watching someone die due to a "routine" shoot out. The struggle of black education is a hard one, we must build our own roads instead of walking on those we have no knowledge of its construction.
Dead Presidents are still burning in the hood
Just finished watching dead presidents-with all honesty I am beginning to grasp the concept that BLACK soldiers in America are still FIGHTING in a WHITE man'S army and his war! Anthony was unable to keep or even gain a decent living/no jobs available/or benefits/to steal a murder is wrong but what are the circumstances for justice in America if we can not give each solider the same respect an d rights regardless of color! I do not mean the color of one man's skin to another but WHITE SUPREMACY!There are many constructions of the institution that the movie breaks down, despite the biases I may have this movie is appropriate for the time in America that "instances" similar or exact took place. The lack of social security is addressed in a small way, lack of drug centers for addicts recovering from the war as well as mental facilities stationed in black communities.I appreciate the support the individuals gave each other in this movie and the different points of view each character expressed. On youtube when I was looking for the last clip some one posted " World War 2 was more of a "real" war than Vietnam. Nam was a small country that the U.S was trying to stop from being communism's latest victim, in which the enemy fought using guerrilla tactics and was hidden most of the time. World War 2 was a global conflict that involved over 20 nations, with tanks, massive armies, fighter plane legions and absolutely tyrannical villains the likes of which have never been seen since. The judge was right. WW2 was a REAL war. 70 million dead/6yrs." Another posted "when the judge mentioned his honors as a war veteran, he forgot to mention that he is white and being black in America is not easy." This is in fact true, I may have these strong opinions because I am BLACK but each race has experience struggle in may different ways i.e the battle for black freedom and liberation has and is still a long stemmed one. I cant say all I want hear but this will be something I continue to blog about.
Here's the last clip, I wish that he would have stressed about how he was a black man in an American (white) army But as I continue to watch the clip over and over again the emotion he expressed became more real i.e throwing the chair.

Many of you may know Jamie Hector as one of the leading roles on The Wire but he is far more than a role; I know him as a friend, mentor, and inspirational voice not only in my heart but the heart of the community. I broke down in tears [i know, im always crying :)] watching footage of him working with teens I have have the pleasure of knowing. The system never shines light on the beauty in it's junkyards, and I must say the teens that Jamie has crossed paths with shined long before anyone took them from the rubble,He never shaded their talent shunning all validation but allowed to to build from a star into a planet. I want to give a Thank you to Jamie for being there for me in many ways that he may ever know;most of all I would like to thank him for continuously coming back. When I say continuously,I don't mean autograph signings and screenings but for sitting down and speaking to the neighborhood as a person and not a distant figure. I am unable to express all the feelings I have inside of me through this post, but it gives me great pleasure to tell all the young people that are reading this that your light creates more color than the sun/you dont need wings to fly/you've got heart.
